ACCESS SAILING |
Within the different water sports that we offer at Funtastic, sailing -in all its different modalities- takes a special place. Access Sailing is one of them.
2004 was the European Year of Education through Sport within the EU. The objective was to promote the civic and educational values of the sport and its importance in the development of the personality and the social relations.
Access to sport activity and the cultural, educational and socialising values of its practice is a right for any human being. Therefore, the sport adapted to everyone's capacities and capabilities is a right as well and a form
of expression of the equality of opportunities which every man and women deserve to enjoy.
To suit such aim, Funtastic profits on the use of a Sailability Mobile Unit, devoted to make sailing accessible to everyone independent of the age, sex, physical or psychical capabilities, skills or status.
Such Mobile Unit has been set up by RS Veleros and includes 4 Access Dinghies, one of which is equipped with electrical servo steering. This enables severely disabled people to steer the boat and trim sails on their own and so,
enjoy the freedom and independence of sailing by themselves, sailing solo.
Access Dinghies are sold in Spain by RS Veleros, you can see all the different models on its website.
Thanks to its simplicity and special characteristics of design, Access Dinghies are ideal to introduce into sailing disabled people as well as people with fully able bodies.
On demand by any group or community we can celebrate access sailing courses but whenever possible, at Funtastic we prefer to use the Access Dinghies to integrate the members of those groups
into regular sailing courses open for everybody.
This way we intent to create a common and integrating space where everybody lives together learning to accept their differences. Integration of people into its communities, specially the most disadvantaged,
is a priority for Sailability world wide, in full harmony with the European initiative of education through sport. Other priorities of Sailability are to give special attention to kids and the growing
community of elderly people.
The Sailability Mobile Unit is available for any collective or community which might require its services. If necessary it can move to any point in Spain to celebrate private sessions or reinforce sailing
schools missing adapted boats for access courses and discover sailing sessions.
Don't hesitate to
we'll be delighted to help you.
